The publications of the Hakluyt Society (founded in 1846) made available edited (and sometimes translated) early accounts of exploration. This 1866 compilation in two volumes focusing on contacts with China before the discovery of sea routes, includes Arabic and Persian accounts as well as those of Europeans.
