Cat Savage: A Proud, Hard Working Florida Woman

Autor Mary Frances Brinson
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 11 dec 2014
Cat Savage, i.e. Mary Brinson Jones, was the oldest child born into a family of rugged Florida pioneers living near the pristine Suwanee River in rural North Florida. Cat's ancestors fought in the War for Independence. Both her grandfather's fought for the Confederacy during the War Between the States. A Brinson fought in World War I and came home alive, but Cat's only brother, Lester, was killed in action during World War II. Cat's male children and several of her grandsons and one great-grandson served honorably in all branches of the military service from 1950 through the mid 2000's. Cat tells a story of a southern girl moving to a new town every time her locomotive engineer father had his route changed. She had strong views on most issues and possessed a special zeal for supporting anyone in need. Look for the deepness of her soul and the goodness of her heart in her words. Cat was born with infantile hemangioma on her face and neck. Doctors had to burn it off over several years. Treatment in the mid-1900s left her scarred on the outside and on the inside. Laughing and offensive remarks from other children plus long stares from adults forged her into a woman with a strong sense of self-survival and deep empathy for anyone with a handicap or who was different from the crowd. Cat's son Bob and daughter Lesta Ann provide an Epilogue based on their life of tough, but unconditional love from Cat Savage over many decades.
