As a germaphobe with anxiety, Ryan is not interested in getting into any drama at the high school he attends. He does not want to deal with gross people. He prefers to keep his head down and mind his own business. Unfortunately for him, Lakemond High is full of drama and his best friend, Alex, is under the impression that it's a good idea to place himself in the middle of it by standing up to the bullies at their school. Through Alex, Ryan ends up meeting and befriending one of the victims of the bullying, a freshman known as Icky. The three of them become close, yet as certain events unfold, their friendship ends in pieces.
A year later, Ryan is repeating senior year at a different high school and is avoiding anything that has to do with his past to the best of his abilities. Between his girlfriend's questions and Alex's reappearance in his life, however, this is proving to be difficult to manage.
