Buried Secrets is a mystery novel by Krissy Baccaro which begins on the streets of Skaneateles, in upstate New York. Ella Perri stands at the foot of her grandparents' home on the lake unprepared to enter after the recent death of her beloved grandfather, Poppy. Although profoundly saddened by Poppy's death, Ella is no stranger to loss. Before entering the house, she reflects on a letter she found containing a secret about a crime that might have involved her grandfather. She also reflects on two things Poppy said to her before he passed: "Find the box" and "watch who you trust".
After examining every inch of Poppy's home, Ella finds the box hidden in the study but isn't prepared for what's inside. In the days that follow, Ella discovers more letters between Poppy and a woman named Gianna hidden in unexpected places. The letters and contents of the box take her on a journey through the streets of Tropea, Italy where Poppy, his family, and Gianna grew up. As many of her fears are confirmed, a truth emerges that she's not prepared for and she must decide: share the secrets and alter the fates of her loved ones forever or become part of the lie that's been buried deep for decades.
