Ash has survived exile, adventuring, and the prejudices of humans. These days, the Dark Elf would rather earn a quiet living copying books and scrolls in the city of Hope.
Hope has other plans.
When rival powers threaten to tear the city apart and young women begin turning up dead, Ash is drawn into an investigation he never wanted. An old debt puts him on the trail of a killer, but every answer leads deeper into a city where noble families trade influence, criminals guard their territory, and justice depends on who has the power to demand it.
Ash knows what it means to be judged before the truth is known. Now he must move between Hope's wealthy heights and its dangerous underbelly, following clues others would rather bury. As the murders become increasingly personal, the investigation threatens not only Ash's sanity but the people he has come to call friends.
To stop the killing, an exile who no longer belongs anywhere may have to confront the darkest parts of Hope - and discover just how much justice is worth.
Broken Star: A Dark Elf Story is a fantasy murder mystery filled with intrigue, corruption, prejudice, dangerous alliances, and a reluctant investigator determined to bring a killer to account.
