Wildlife warrior Margot helps rehabilitate injured wildlife back into their natural habitat, but when the country township becomes the target for coal seam gas mining, Margot is afraid for the safety of the native animals she and her mum fight for. To make it worse, the stepdad of
city newcomer twins Sarah and Sam, is a miner of C.S.G. and it seems like coal seam
gas is all Sam wants to talk about, threatening the bedrock of a formative friendship.
Still, Margot determines to enlist the help of her best friend Darcy, and the twins, to
save the remnant forest. But Darcy is on a quest to track down the yowie ancestral lore says exists. Regardless of what the twins think, Margot and Darcy search for evidence.
Sarah believes they should be more concerned about the squatter they crossed,
frustrated no one listens to her fears about venturing near the eery house.
Sarah just wants Darcy to notice her, but his gaze is fixed on Margot, who is so
hellbent on saving wildlife, she doesn't even see. When she learns that Margot is

he fears the truth of his parentage will tear him apart. As he flees to the seemingly
abandoned house at the edge of the forest, he nurses the hurt his family tried to hide
from him. He hears first-hand from the lonely drifter, that while running away is easy,
becoming an adult, isn't.
And in searching for the elusive secret of the forest, hidden somewhere amidst
the canopy of wilderness and anecdote, the four friends learn that sometimes the deepest
truths are often the ones they try to hide from themselves.
