Briefly, We Were Strangers: Allen & Unwin

When was the last time you had a moment of real connection with a stranger?

Most days, Olivia Dodd sits at a typewriter in a public space and asks a stranger a simple question: "What can I write about for you?" The result is a beautiful encounter, a vulnerable moment shared, and a poem, written live on a typewriter.

Millions of people have connected with these poems online, seeing themselves reflected in every story. Now Olivia captures the magic of this shared experience in her first book. From a woman struggling with fertility, to a new graduate scared of the future, to a grieving grandson and a child who loves dragons, these stories and poems remind us that we are all human and that we are not alone.

This is a book to help you feel less lonely. To offer you comfort when you're feeling lost, hope when you're grieving and a moment of calm and presence in the chaos of everyday life. A book to look to for reassurance, again and again, that the world still listens, that hope can be kindled, and that the kindness of strangers is always there to be found.
