Recenzii

“This volume presents the works of four 17th- and early 18th-century botanical illustrators. In the book’s introduction, Alice Alder, a curator at the Royal Collection Trust (the art collection of Britain’s royal family), provides background on the artists and the regions in which they worked: Alexander Marshal in London, Maria Sibylla Merian in Suriname, Mark Catesby worked in the Americas, and Cassiano del Pozza in Italy. Past the introduction, the 80 full-color images gorgeously reign, with the only further text being captions listing the artist, date, and sometimes collection. Beautiful and artistically inspiring.”
