Olusola Idowu PhD is one of the few scientists in the world combining deep industry authority in global cosmetics with the analytical methodology, AI, in-silico systems biology, and large-scale molecular modelling, to address phenotype-specific skin biology at the rigour the field now requires.Dr Idowu has consulted for the world's leading cosmetics companies, including several of the world's largest brands. His work has covered formulation strategy, phenotype-specific product development, the scientific foundations of anti-ageing claims, and in-silico prediction of active-ingredient performance. It has also included the commercial case for product lines serving under-represented populations. The consulting has put him in conversation with the R&D leadership of the largest category players in the world, and given him an exceptional vantage point on where those companies' research priorities have, and have not, kept pace with the biology of their customers. He has given oral evidence to the UK House of Commons Science, Innovation and Technology Committee, as part of the Parliamentary Innovation Showcase, on the scientific and commercial case for AI-driven personalised skincare grounded in the specific biology of melanin-rich and textured-hair populations.He is founder and CEO of HexisLab, a research laboratory headquartered at the Newcastle Helix innovation campus in the United Kingdom. HexisLab operates a proprietary in-silico screening platform with a database of over 30,000 compounds characterised against biological endpoints relevant to skin and hair science. The company received the Frost & Sullivan award for innovation in computational cosmetics research.
