The stories in Boris v Shelob are magic realist in style. In the title story two electronic spiders are sent on a race by the police, in Subterranean Ghost Station Blues, a wealthy New Yorker from a privileged family experiences life in the subway and in Blood and Guts, the narrator tells the true life story of her experience having a craniotomy.
