The first edition of Paulann Petersen's Blood Silk, her powerful and moving collection of poems about the country of Türkiye and its people, was published in 2004, six years prior to her tenure as Oregon Poet Laureate from 2010 - 2014. While it has long been out of print, the arrival of this third edition of the book is timely, as our human struggle to more compassionately understand and accept ourselves and each other-in all our diversity, strength, and frailty-is more urgent than ever. Blood Silk provides a healing balm to that collective need.
