Sergeant Hunter Stone, a dedicated but troubled forensic investigator, finds himself embattled with the NYPD bureaucracy while simultaneously trying every trick he knows to catch an elusive and brutal serial killer. A killer with a vendetta, who leaves personal messages in his victims' blood maligning Stone's abilites and skills. The serial killer, obsessed with destroying Stone, tracks him down after Stone leaves the NYPD and takes a job as the marshal of his old home town. Resuming his malicious killing and bloody messages, the serial killer drives Stone to the edge of sanity as he unleashes his fury, bent on destroying Stone and everyone for whom he cares.
