A love story that follows five 30-something, politically engaged friends living in turn-of-the-millennium Toronto as they grapple with infertility, internet celebrity, fallout from 9/11, the terrifying heating of our planet, and something altogether unexplainable.
Celia's friend Donya is pregnant. Celia would like a baby too. But her partner isn't ready to "doom yet another human being to life on a dying planet." When Donya goes into labour at an early-morning watch party for Princess Diana's funeral, Celia becomes convinced through a vision that Diana is still alive -- and has entered the soul of Donya's baby.
Suffused with humour, unexpected beauty, and magic realism, Best World deftly takes us on a gripping journey to turn-of-the-millennium Toronto -- and beyond.
