Usingblack-and-whitefilmandalarge-formatcamerasimilartotheequipmentofphotographersinthe1940s,KitagakisoughttomirrorandcomplementphotographstakenduringWorldWarII--whilerevealingthestrengthandperseveranceofthesubjects.
