Aster attends a school for gifted students, but she doesn't believe she is special. If she were, her mother would not have left. Every day, Aster sets herself one challenge: do a good, right thing that makes someone else's life better. No one can know about these secret acts, because then they will not count. Together, they find unexpected ways to help other people and for the first time, Aster begins to feel free. But if she stops doing her good, right things, will everything fall apart?
