Ask Me to Remember
Autor Lauren Francis-Sharmaen Limba Engleză Hardback – 27 iul 2027
September 11, 2015: Sylvia is a high-powered lawyer, living and breathing work in Washington, DC, while consulting with fertility doctors and adoption agencies in her desperate pursuit of motherhood. In between meetings and appointments, she's working on the draft of a speech for an aviation conference; she's the first Black woman to ever be invited to give the keynote. It is also the fourteenth anniversary of her husband Mitchell's death, and she is unraveling.
Convinced she can keep the cracks from showing, Sylvia piles on even more. She starts caring for the son of a neighborhood family and agrees to host the wedding of her closest family member. What she refuses to do, however, is let anyone know how she is truly feeling. This includes her therapist, who suggests that Sylvia speak to Mitchell as if he can hear her, recounting their story from its origins in order to face its tragic end.
In doing so, Sylvia lays bare the beating heart of an unforgettable love story.
In a gorgeously written, suspenseful tale that brings readers from DC to New York City to Trinidad, Lauren Francis-Sharma paints an arresting portrait of what it means to love, to wrestle with history, and to let go. A life-affirming novel, Ask Me to Remember is an indelible testament to the knotty nature of grief and the beautiful and unpredictable act of rebuilding oneself.
