First published in 1983. The Consortium for Longitudinal Studies was formed in 1975 to answer the question of whether early education programs had measurable long-term effects on the performance of children from low-income families. This unique collaboration of individual researchers who developed and evaluated early education programs in the sixties has now provided convincing and ecologically valid evidence of the effectiveness of these programs.
