The Mediterranean Motorway, or AP-7, is the main route that connects all road traffic alongSpain’s Mediterranean coast, stretching from Algeciras to France. Its first section, inauguratedin 1969, was widely featured in Francoist development propaganda as a symbol of progress andthe starting point of Spanish consumer society. Today, the imagery surrounding this road is farremoved from the optimistic fascination of the 1970s, and the landscapes and architectures alongthe way evoke a sense of strangeness. This archival and research project seeks to look beyondnostalgia in the narrative of progress and tourism in our country.
