Eike Christian Herzig examines the significance of Martin Heidegger for Protestant theology on the basis of his reflections on the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche, the poetry of Friedrich Hölderlin, and early Greek thinkers. Equally, Heidegger's significance is reflected in the deliberations between Heinrich Ott and Eberhard Jüngel in Germany at the beginning of the 1960s.
