Patreece, a 24-year-old dental hygienist in Corpus Christi, TX, is single and not happy about it. True, not all her friends were married, but many had significant others, and her best friend is planning her summer wedding.
While in an antique store, she finds a diary. She reads the diary over the course of the summer. The young woman writing the diary has much in common with Patreece, even though she was young in the 1950s. Snippets about Cybil's life surround recorded dreams of marrying different men; there seem to be three such dreams in the diary. Using the information in the diary, Patreece assumes the author is now approximately the age of her grandmother, Upsy. With the support of two intriguing mature ladies, Patreece learns to appreciate life. Losing one inspiring woman and discovering the other leads Patreece on a journey of self-discovery.
