An Intelligent Human

Samuel A. Thompson is a writer of literary fiction, poetry, and short fiction whose work is shaped by a lifelong devotion to world literature. A voracious reader across eras and traditions, he brings both classical sensibility and contemporary awareness to his prose. His poetry and short fiction can also be found on his Substack page @booksreadsam. Thompson discovered his passion for writing in his early twenties, inspired by a desire to engage with the craft at the highest level. Driven by a deep admiration for the greatest writers in literary history, he committed himself to developing a voice that honors that tradition while forging something distinctly his own. His work in literary fiction reflects that ambition: prose that values precision, emotional depth, and the transformative power of storytelling. When he is not writing, Thompson can be found in the great outdoors, whether backpacking, hiking, or camping with his family. He is also a musician who plays in a bluegrass band, and he credits the rhythms of music and nature as vital influences on his literary voice. A devoted husband and father, he draws creative energy from the authors, people and landscapes that surround him. Follow the author for updates on new releases.
