What can a golem from the old country do in America?

A kid arrives in New York City, where everything is big, crowded, strange, and scary. He builds a golem, a mud monster from Jewish folklore, to protect him from the kids next door. But he soon learns he doesn't need the golem for protection.

Without a purpose, the kid and his golem search for ways to help people. But despite his efforts, the golem only makes the problem worse. That is, until there is someone truly in danger.

In this story about immigration and community, the graphic-novel style illustrations provide a fresh approach with kid appeal, and an Author Note introduces the Jewish value of tikkun olam, repairing the world.
