How do you fit your whole life into one bag?
When eight-year-old Amber must leave everything familiar behind, she carries only a purple backpack, her favorite book, and bunny, Safety does not erase her sadness, and courage does not mean pretending she is not afraid.
With caring adults who give her room to feel, Amber takes one small step at a time toward a new understanding: where she sleeps may change, but who she is cannot be packed away.
Amber's Backpack is a tender and emotionally honest children's story about foster care, belonging, resilience, and hope. Written from lived experience, it reminds children facing difficult changes that their feelings matter, their identity belongs to them, and their story is still being written.
