Agentic Misrecognition

Editat de Shannon Brincat, Thomas Lindemann
en Limba Engleză Hardback – mar 2027

Agentic Misrecognition offers a critical examination of how misrecognition shapes power, agency and conflict in world politics.

Conceptualizing misrecognition as a graded spectrum of visibility and value across world order, the volume examines how actors systematically diminish the agency of others while simultaneously amplifying the legitimacy and authority of their own positions. While international relations scholarship has long explored inclusion, exclusion and insider-outsider dynamics, this book highlights the often-neglected question of who is recognised, or indeed denied recognition, as a meaningful subject in global affairs.

Drawing on diverse theoretical, geographical and disciplinary perspectives, the book seeks to deepen our understanding of the political stakes of recognition and illuminate how misrecognition can drive inequalities, fuel conflict and limit rationality in international politics.
