Dread spirals on a faraway planet called Aplex, as Jeni witnesses a mysterious explosion over her refugee camp. Throughout the night, Jeni has to survive the Kovian Empire's assault on the planet and her camp while a group of Kovians led by a madman chase her down. Playing games with the madman, Jeni takes on his ordeals, while also figuring out the truth of the explosion and the intentions of the Kovian Empire.
