Research physicist, Joe Randolf, develops a model in order to understand the brain and consciousness. Prior to the unveiling, he disappears. Discovering he is in grave danger, childhood friend, reclusive philosopher, Jay Sarte, sets off to find him. Searching the U.K., France, Switzerland and the south Atlantic, Sarte uncovers a government conspiracy on a government controlled island to use Randolf's model to create nano bombs. It is up to Sarte to bring Randolf and the model home before Randolf is lost forever across the phantom divide.
