Some the poems in this collection have been written at earlier times; others are recently penned. Many reflect memories from my boyhood on the farm in the 1940s when, while the Big War was raging, my experiences at home had their seemingly trivial but ultimately heart-wrenching effects on my life. Three of these poems won Iowa Poetry Association prizes and were first published in Lyrical Iowa.
