A successful writer is on a driving holiday while trying to come to terms with the death of his wife. He happens along the beautiful village of Middleham in the Yorkshire Dales that is surrounded by horse racing stables. Here he finds love as well as intrigue, tragedy and despair. He also has to deal with officers from the Special Branch who are investigating terrorist activities in the area
