Notă biografică
John Calvin (1509-1564) was a French theologian, pastor, and reformer whose writings helped shape the Protestant Reformation and the development of Reformed Christianity. After breaking with the Roman Catholic Church, he became one of the leading religious figures in Geneva, where his preaching, teaching, and organizational work influenced Protestant churches across Europe. His major works include Institutes of the Christian Religion, commentaries on books of the Bible, sermons, letters, and polemical writings such as A Treatise on Relics. Calvin's thought emphasized the authority of Scripture, the sovereignty of God, disciplined Christian life, and the reform of church doctrine and practice. His influence remains central to Reformed theology, Presbyterianism, and the wider history of Protestant Christianity.
