A story of love, loss, and the hidden patterns of addiction that could save a life.
A Private Storm is both a father's tribute and a guide for every parent, sibling, and friend who has watched someone they love slip into addiction.
Told with honesty and compassion, it weaves together two narratives: the life of a bright, kind, artistic young man and the hard science behind the disease that took him away.
Dr. Simon draws on his 33 years in medicine and the raw truth of his own grief to help readers understand how addiction rewires the brain, why recovery is so difficult, and what families can do to help without losing themselves in the process.
