A LONG BEAT TO WINDWARD chronicles the geologic beginning of Barbados, the original Arawak Indian inhabitants and the settlement and its development by many brave men and women. The reader is introduced to David McKenzie and is able to relate to his generations that follow over the next 200 years, the trials of slavery and the plantation system. It concludes with the abolition of slavery in 1838.
