"A Twenty First Century Son" is the journey and reflections of Thurmond and his efforts to please and be like the strong willed father he loves and respects. Yet as he nears adulthood he still must discover for himself what it is that makes a man. This rough water passage from youth to adulthood is one that many men have taken but few have been willing to articulate.
