In 1946 the shooting stopped. The war was won. Millions of soldiers and their families picked up their interrupted lives. They wanted jobs, cars, houses - and candy. Billy Cabot just wanted to get back to his civilian life running the family confectionery factory. But an old girlfriend disappears after becoming involved with a young Congressional candidate named Jack Kennedy, and Billy is sucked into a deadly game of blackmail and espionage playing out in the back alleys of Boston and on the rubble-strewn streets of Berlin.
