Quentin Blake was first published in Punch when he was 16 and still at school. He has always made his living as an illustrator and has had a long career in children's publishing. Beautiful full-colour cartoons adorn all the pages of this magnificent tome. Punch featured colour imagery for almost 100 years, from early in the twentieth century, and was seen as such an important publication that during WW2 special dispensation was given to keep it running in colour. Many of Europe's best cartoonists contributed to the magazine, often in colour, as this book shows off. Introductions, biographies, and special features are brought to the readers' attention by Helen Walasek.
