Notă biografică

British author Theodore Arnold Haultain was the son of Major Gen. Francis Mitchell Haultain and Isabella Thomas and was born on 3 November 1857 in Cannanore, India. He was secretary to Goldwin Smith in Toronto, writing a memoir and acting as literary executor after his death. He dedicated his limited-edition book "Hints for Lovers" to his daughter Emma. On June 23, 1886, in Detroit, Michigan, Haultain wed Amy Millicent Fraser, a child of Alexander Fraser and Mary Mead Torrance. Three of their kids were: Theodore Jones Arnold Haultain was born on 5 Aug 1887 and died on 28 Sep 1914. John Arnold Minet Haultain was born on 10 Nov 1896 and died on 22 Apr 1898. Emma Mellicent Audrey Haultain born on 8 Feb 1903, died on Nov 1993 Arnold Haultain published 36 books throughout the course of his life, covering everything from "The riddle of golf" to "A history of Riel's second uprising and how it was put down." His limited-edition book, "Hints for Lovers," was dedicated to his daughter Emma. A couple of his English articles, including "How to Read" (from Blackwood's Magazine) in Littell's Living Age, have been translated into American publications. He passed away in Westmoreland on June 11th, 1941, at the age of 83.
