This index is a compilation of notices that were published in various early Cincinnati newspapers during this time period. It contains over 8,800 deaths, over 3.200 marriages and over 3.100 miscellaneous notices which were reported and published before 1853 in Hamilton County, Ohio. It should be noted that the names in this index are not only from the Cincinnati and Hamilton County area, but for much of the former Northwest Territory during the early years, and as far north as Dayton, as far east as Columbus and Chillicothe, south to Lexington and Shelbyville, Kentucky and west as far as Indianapolis and Richmond, Indiana, for the period in the mid-19th century.
