London, 1970s. Discontent is spreading across Europe, manifesting itself in civil unrest, strikes, and a spate of bombings. Rebel, Donny, and Ella, a dancer with the Royal Ballet, move into a household of political radicals and are casually drawn into extemism. When their housemate Hector is arrested in Italy and Ella discovers infiltration by the Special Branch, her attempt to protect Donny leads to a violent death... Blending satire and lyricism, comedy and tragedy, the explosive new novel by this award-winning author charts a path between individual and collective political action, both in the 1970s and today.
