RafidAl-KhouryisaSeniorresearcherincomputationalmechanicsintheFacultyofCivilEngineeringandGeosciencesatDelftUniversityofTechnology,TheNetherlands.Hismainareaofinterestisincomputationalmechanicswithemphasisoncomputationalgeoenvironment.Inparticular,heisadeveloperofanalytical,semi-analyticalandnumericalmodelsforwavepropagationinlayeredsystems,multiphaseflowandheatandfluidflowinshallowgeothermalsystems.Themainfocusofhisresearchworkisthedevelopmentofinnovativemodelsandefficientcomputationalprocedurescapableofsimulatingphysicalprocessesoccurringincomplicatedgeometryusingminimalcomputationalefforts.Alongthisline,Dr.Al-Khouryhaspublishedseveralmodelsfordifferentfieldsofcomputationalmechanics,includingwavepropagation,parameteridentification,fracturingporousmedia,andgeothermics.
