Chronicles of Avonleais a collection of short stories byL. M. Montgomery, related to theAnne of Green Gablesseries. It features an abundance of stories relating to the fictional Canadian village ofAvonlea, and was first published in 1912. Sometimes marketed as a book in theAnne Shirleyseries, Anne plays only a minor role in the book: out of the 12 stories in the collection, she stars in only one ("The Hurrying of Ludovic"), and has a small supporting role in another ("The Courting of Prissy Strong"). She is otherwise only briefly mentioned in passing in five other stories: "Each in His Own Tongue," '"Little Joscelyn"', "The Winning of Lucinda," '"Quarantine at Alexander Abraham's" and "The End of a Quarrel.""

Maria Nastasia a dat nota:

There were all sort of characters with all sort of personalities in this book. Some were lovely, some dreamy, sulky, bad-tempered, nosey, cantankerous, chatty, lonely, romantic, worrier, tyrant, ungrateful, sensitive and mischievous. Just so many characters! They all were given a story even if it was just in one or few lines which was plus point, but the drawback was I felt dizzy reading about them all and trying to remember them. If I dare to list them all, I bet it will fill 2-3 foolscap pages. Ah and there was wedding and Anne’s part in eloping lovebirds. Some stories were emotional while some were comical. And there was lots of gossips and drama. I didn’t want Anne leaving this amusing community after 3 years but I knew it was not possible. I liked the way things turned out in all stories and things Anne learned throughout the book.

Notă biografică

The best-known works by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery OBE, also known by her pen as L M Montgomery (November 30, 1874 - April 24, 1942), include a number of novels, essays, short tales, and poems that began with Anne of Green Gables in 1908. Along with 530 short stories, 500 poems, and 30 articles, she also authored 20 novels. The novel Anne of Green Gables was an instant hit, and the titular character, the orphan Anne Shirley, helped make Lucy Maud Montgomery famous and earned her a global following. The majority of the novels were set in Prince Edward Island, and those parts of Canada's tiniest province-specifically, Green Gables farm, which served as the inspiration for Prince Edward Island National Park-became literary landmarks and well-liked tourist destinations. In 1935, she received the title of officer of the Order of the British Empire. Scholars and readers from all over the world have read and studied Montgomery's writings, journals, and correspondence. The University of Prince Edward Island's L. M. Montgomery Institute is in charge of doing academic research into L. M. Montgomery's life, works, culture, and influence. On November 30, 1874, Lucy Maud Montgomery was born in Clifton, Prince Edward Island (now New London).
